Annette Benning: Senator Maria Cantwell.

Born to the Hat: A man who passes The Hat Test so well, he’s almost guaranteed to win a general election or a party nomination. The gold standard here is Lyndon Johnson, about whom it can easily be said was “Born to the Hat.”
See also “The Hat Test.”

Bytch Factor: Madame Hillary’s, um, charisma!

Dead Earth: Parody of Live Earth’s poor attendance and ratings. Used also for instances where bad entertainment and enviromanticism are conjoined.

Enviromanticism: A term coined by James Pinkerton in a 1997 Foreign Affairs piece, we use it as a better description of environmentalism.

Ethnostatism: Originally a neo-fascist term, we use it as a more accurate description of multiculturalism.

FIOTM: Freedom Is On The March. Originally a WOT Bushism, FIOTM means any statement by Bush or the GOP leadership that is meaningless, unpersausive and/or unimaginative.

The Hat Test: Is based on PP’s rule that it is generally extremely unlikely that a man can be elected president, if he cannot not wear a cowboy hat well. The test involves examining photographic evidence of instances where candidates are seen wearing the hat.

This test also favors candidates for party nominations. For example, in 2000, George W. Bush beats McCain, as Bush passes the Hat Test and McCain does not. For the 1992 Democratic nomination, Bill Clinton passes the test, whereas Jerry Brown and Paul Tsongas do not.

Whether or not a candidate can pass the test is a bit subjective, but follows an American cultural I-know-it-when-i-see-it rule for the hat. If neither candidate can pass the test, the candidate who is closest wins. Nixon versus Humphrey would be a good example. Neither man wore the hat well, but Nixon did better.

Lord John Whorfin: Jim Webb

Newtishness: A political organization or phrase is Newtish, if it sounds either like an insurance company or a home renovating firm, as all of Newt Gingrich’s groups, papers and books sound like one or the other. Newtish phrases and titles are also interchangeable with the addition of Newt’s signature word “renew.” For example, Newt’s current organization is “American Solutions,” which sounds like an insurance company. But by adding “renew” we can get: American Renewal Solutions, American Solutions Renewal, or Renewing American Solutions. All of which sound like a home renovation company.

Ronpaulism:
An irrational belief that a libertarian gynecologist from Texas is the messiah.

RuPaul: Ron Paul

SLW: New York Senator Chuck Schumer

The Three Amigos: John McCain (Steve Martin), Rudy Giuliani (Martin Short), Mitt Romney (Chevy Chase). Three clowns who travel around the country pretending to be something they are not: conservatives.

Tommy!: Tommy Thompson
