The Romney Gun Shuffle

“I purchased a gun when I was a young man. I’ve been a hunter pretty much all my life”.

So said Amigo Mitt Romney at a recent discussion in New Hampshire, just before getting busted over the comments, due to a source suggesting he had only hunted twice in his life.

Of course, the story is beginning to catch on as yet another demonstration of a man who will say anything, in desperation to gain favor with conservatives.

The damaging news about this gun story however, is in what Democrats are saying. Take the comments of Damien LaVera, a spokesman for the Democratic National Committee, for example:

“Whether he’s pretending to be a hunter, misleading people about loaning his campaign millions of dollars or signing a no-new-tax pledge he once mocked to hide his tax-raising record, he’ll say absolutely anything to distance himself from his real record”

Sound familiar? It may be that Republicans could expect the exact same charges of flip flopping and exaggerated facts, two issues that destroyed both the Kerry and Gore campaigns against George W. Bush, if Romney were to become the eventual nominee. With added concerns about his record, running a red campaign from the state of Massachusetts, and constant charges of pandering, things remain in hot water for Amigo Mitt.
