If any further proof were needed that the Democrats have never actually relinquished an issue or given up on a cause, witness the sudden rebirth of ERA.

Remember this? Government benefits for women “enslaved” in housework at home? Yes, it’s back. The principals are still with us too. They still have Ted Kennedy, we have Phyllis Schlafly. Welcome to That 70s Party in power.

But how tiresome it is, that the brutish, lead-headed determination of the Democrats, forces us to constantly revisit the same tired, bad ideas over and over. That’s ultimately how they get passed of course. People just get sick of fighting them. Every Democrat program from Medicare to Social Security was fought off for decades by the GOP. The Republicans thought they’d won on each of those issues dozens of times.

The year 3001 will come, and Democrats will still be trying to get their 1970s bills passed, if any remain outside of law. They never relent. Remember this when Howard Dean tells you that things like gun control are now off the table. Nothing ever is with these folks.
