Fred Plus Newt

Directly, Amigo Romney’s role as third man is seriously imperiled by the ascent of the Fred Thompson candidacy in the latest ARG state poll numbers: Poll Results>>> via Race42008

At present, ARG has Thompson in this ranking:

IA: 3rd
NH: 5th
TX: 4th
AR: 5th

But a more useful way to look at this, is in light of the fact that Newt is extraordinarily unlikely to run. Furthermore, given where his support is coming from within the party, it’s likely that most if not all of his vote strength will go to the conservative standard-bearer who does run. At present, that would be Fred Thompson. So, if you combine Newt’s vote with Thompson’s, you begin to see more clearly the hidden picture of the strength of conservative discontent.

NH: 2nd
TX: 2nd
AR: 3rd
